£5M Investment in AI at the Sanger

The Wellcome Sanger Institute has committed to £5M of invetment in AI over the next three years as part of a bold vision to utilise the merging technology and continue to be ahead of the curve of innovation.

This investment will be reflected in the evolution of new dedicated platforms - including two dedicated GPU-only HPC clusters for R&D work and for production-level AI workflows.

Supporting the platforms will be new members of the research computing team - RSE and RTP to maintain the platforms and to engage with scientists and co-produce significant scientific results efficiently and while working with best practices.
