Championing best practices for HPC use in the scientific community

The research computing support team at Sanger host training opportunities underpinning the platforms supported at the institute, and promoting best practices for HPC use and development.

This includes:

  • The farm course: introduction to using the compute farms, and best practices.
  • OpenStack Training: introduction to using the cloud computing platform.

We are always looking to increase our training repertoire to fill any gaps that may exist in the community, and are happy to receive suggestions for what can be covered.

The farm course is offered as a hybrid-taught course or as an internal self-service resource - enabling new starters on contingent short-term contracts to bypass the wait for a taught session if required. The self-service farm course is hosted internally.

Documentation

The services we offer are documented internally at Sanger, and documentation is regularly updated by our RSE and RTP team.
